Breakfast
A selection of cereals, three varieties of bread for toast and a selection
of spreads. Yoghurt, preserved fruit and fruit juice are available. During
winter a hot option is often served. On Sunday a full cooked brunch is available.
Lunch
City College makes a determined effort to provide tasty interesting lunches
and a longer lunch hour to make it easier for residents to come home. Lunch
features seasonal salads, a cooked meal and in winter, home made soups,
scones and toasted sandwiches. Fruit and baking are available.
A facility is available for Residents to make a cut lunch before 9am.
Dinner
A cooked meal with meat and vegetables and fruit to follow. There is a salad
bar, with fresh and tasty salads. Desserts are served twice a week.
All Meals
Coffee, hot chocolate, Milo, Tea, chilled water, cordial and milk are available.
Late meals are available up until 10pm Sunday - Friday. There are no late
meals on Saturday.
Special Options
At the beginning of the year residents should indicate to the Food Service
Manager if they require a vegetarian meal or have philosophical or religious
reasons for not eating particular meats. People choosing a vegetarian option
will keep that option for the entire semester. Residents with dietary restrictions
should advise the Head of College on arrival.

Laundry
There is a central laundry, Residents are expected to buy washing powder to wash personal items. Free tokens will be provided on a weekly basis, extra tokens will be available for purchase. Use of the laundry is free.
Bed Linen
Residents must provide their own linen.
Tutorials
These are organised in the first term according to student demand. Speak to Ms Crawford to find out more.
Bicycles
There are three bike sheds. You will need to have a strong lock. Residents must not take bikes into apartments or bedrooms. We take no responsibility for the security of residents’ bicycles.
Car Parks
We do not encourage Residents to bring cars to Dunedin. The campus is small, and everything is within walking distance. City College has a very limited number of car parks available for $400.00 per year, payable in advance. Residents are allocated a numbered parking place. Visitors must park on the street.
Keys
Residents are issued with a key that gives access to all the areas they have a right to use. A sil' key is also issued which allows access to the college after 9pm, when the college is made electronically secure.
Visitors
Visitors are welcome but visitors' behaviour is the responsibility of residents, guests are expected to comply with our rules. Visitors must be out of the buildings by 10.30pm Sunday to Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday, unless permission has been granted. Visitors are not to bring alcohol into the college.


Insurance
It is advisable that you obtain some form of insurance for your personal effects.
Smoking
City College is a smoke-free environment.
Alcohol
The use of alcohol at City College is dependent on a good standard of behaviour being maintained.
Residents' Club
This is a body that is elected to represent residents on a committee. This committee is a voluntary group responsible for organising social events through out the year.
Telephone/Fax
Each apartment has a telephone for local calls. Telecom Calling Cards, Clear Cards and 0800 numbers can be used on these phones to make toll calls. For outsiders calling in the prefix is 471 for student phones and 479 for Admin phones. It is possible to have a phone connected in a resident’s bedroom, at a cost of $80.00 set up fee and $25.00 per month. Photocopying and the use of the fax are available from reception at a nominal charge. Our fax number is 4795591. Our postal address is PO Box 6065, Dunedin.
Cardio Room
A Cross trainer, treadmill, rowing machine and exercycle are available for student use.

Lounges
There are two lounges for student use. Each has a television. Sky TV and a video recorder are available in the main lounge. There is pool, fuze ball and table tennis in the upstairs lounge. Snack and drink machines are accessible 24 hours a day. A piano is also available in a practise room.
Computers
The Computer Lab is networked to the University of Otago Student Computing System. All City College residents are able to log on to the net, have e mail access and use of a printer at a reasonable rate. It is possible in some bedrooms to have a direct connection to Student Computing Services. There is an extra charge for this service and the college must be informed in advance.
